Centra Pulse launches luxury telecare watch to the UK market

A luxury Swiss watch which provides around the clock care outside of the home has been launched to the UK market by leading telecare provider Centra Pulse.

A discreet button on the Swiss manufactured Limmex Emergency Watch tracks the location of the wearer and connects through to a care professional with secure access to their medical details who can arrange emergency support.

The service has been developed by Centra Pulse and Limmex to support and reassure older people and those with long term medical conditions, such as MS and epilepsy, when they leave the home.

It is the first time telecare technology and GPS tracking has been incorporated into the device which is already used by thousands of people in Switzerland and Germany to establish mobile contact between the wearer and their friends or family.

Telecare technology is currently more commonly used within in-home devices like personal alarms and fall detector sensors which help more than 125,000 Centra Pulse customers stay independent at home.

Wendy Darling, Managing Director at Centra Pulse, said: “We’ve worked with Limmex to meet a growing demand for invisible care that fits seamlessly into the lifestyle of the user. The result is a stylish watch with hidden telecare technology that can be worn outside of the home with a wrap around offer from our service. We are proud to be the first organisation in the UK to be providing this kind of innovative product.”

The Limmex watch was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2013 and was nominated for the coveted German Design Award in 2015.

Martin Reber, CEO of Limmex, said: “Circle Housing shares our values of respect and dignity whilst feeling safe and staying active, which is what our products are all about. The UK Telecare sector is known to be a leading force in Europe and as such, we are delighted to enter this market in partnership with Circle Housing”.

Each watch is available from Centra Pulse to purchase for £264 and requires a monthly monitoring subscription of £4.15 a week excluding VAT.
