BSIA welcomes 'top-up training' for door supervisors

The British Security Industry Association (BSIA) has welcomed the Government's consultation paper on the proposed introduction of additional training for door supervisors. Launched in December 2009, the consultation aims to make new skills in physical intervention, first aid, dealing with young people and awareness of the threat of terrorism, a basic requirement for all door supervisors either renewing an existing licence or new entrants to the industry who are applying for one for the first time.

NEW Training Newsletter
We are also pleased to announce that for 2010 Skills for Security are teaming up with us to publish a quarterly training newsletter, with the first one due out in February.

The newsletter will look at training issues within the UK Security industry and as well as give dates and details of some relevant courses and events to attend. Skills for Security, a not-for-profit sector skills body, was created by employers to work with and on behalf of the security industry to improve standards of professionalism and access to training and qualifications for everyone working in this exciting sector.Skills for Security provides National Occupational Standards (NOS), apprenticeships, training programmes, training resources, examinations processing, research, advice and information, and communication channels to government and regulatory bodies.

New course developed due to demand from trainers

Skills for Security is pleased to announce the accreditation of a new Security Manager (Head Door Supervision) Course for trainers, developed by Rutherford Training Group.This course has been created for trainers who wish to deliver Rutherford’s Level 3 Security Management (Head Door Supervision) to delegates. The four day programme consists of three key phases; a distance learning phase, a two day course where delegates gain the Level 3 Head Door Supervision award
