NEW IMPRO READERS MAKE BIOMETRIC SECURITY AFFORDABLE REALITY
BPT Security Systems (UK) Ltd. has launched the very first biometric readers designed for use with its Impro access control systems.
The new B-Sho Biometric readers are one of the most cost-effective biometric solutions on the market in terms of both capital cost and installation, claims BPT. Unlike other biometric readers, B-Sho have been specifically designed to integrate seamlessly with existing Impro access control systems without the need for additional equipment and connect via installer friendly RS485, rather than a TCP/IP network. On sites where no existing IP network exists or can be used, having to install one just to run the access control system is costly, time consuming and requires an additional skill set.
Furthermore, B-Sho Readers do not require a separate database, which is the case with the majority of biometric systems. Instead, these advanced Readers use the existing access control database, avoiding the inconvenience of a further database and the need to enter user details twice, making them not only cost- effective but very easy to use and to bolt on to existing access control systems.
As with most biometric based security, the new B-Sho readers are ideally suited to higher security applications as it is very difficult to falsify readings and eliminates any chance of lost or stolen cards / tags. But further security measures have been built into the system, including offline functionality and the ability to change the FAR (False Acceptance Ratio) settings according to the level of security required. A 100% setting, for example, would ensure a very high level of security, whereas an 80% setting would still provide high security but comes with less chance of rejection - an important consideration for busier sites.
The B-Sho Readers are not only secure, but extremely reliable. The Optical sensor has a 500dpi resolution for clarity. When a finger is presented to that sensor for verification, the software compares it to three original scans held in the database, for greater accuracy. It also permits users to scan a finger from each hand, giving them the choice of hand to present to the reader - particularly useful when carrying something!
The Impro B-Sho Readers accommodate up to 1000 templates, permitting either 1000 users with a single finger scan or 500 users with two finger scans in the database. They allow for biometric only, tag only and biometric and / or tag usage, with the keypad B-Sho Reader offering users the further option of pin number access. The Readers come in a modern, sleek housing with a small profile compared to other biometric readers, making these the biometric readers of choice for style conscious buildings.
Impro B-Sho Readers can be used with the very popular mid range Impro IXP220 and the enterprise IXP400i systems, all of which are distributed in the UK by BPT Security Systems. For more information please contact BPT Security Systems on
