Businesses offered valuable insight into counter-terrorism

Thames Valley businesses were given a valuable insight into the ways their organisations can protect themselves and assist in countering terrorism during the hugely successful Thames Valley Security 2009 event held on Wednesday at Royal Windsor Racecourse.

The event played host to more than one hundred delegates from local businesses and police forces. It covered subjects such as designing out crime and the role of counter terrorism advisers, as well as offering a taster of Thames Valley Police's Project Griffin initiative, which seeks to c oordinate the resources of the police, emergency services, local authorities, business and the private security industry in countering terrorism.

Nick Gilbert, Thames Valley Police Business Crime Reduction & Engagement Manager, says: "I am delighted that the event was such a success. It brought together local businesses to examine the vital issue of counter-terrorism and gave them an overview of how their own organisation can improve security and contribute to safer communities."
