RELIANCE HIGH- TECH TRIUMPH AT SECURITY EXCELLENCE AWARDS

Reliance High-Tech have won the IT Initiative Award at the prestigious Security Excellence Awards. The Awards were held at the London Hilton Park Lane on Thursday 22 nd October. Over 800 key industry people attended the event to celebrate with the finalists in 18 award categories presented by Ronnie Corbett.

The Award is presented to the individual or organisation that has made the most positive use of IT in the security sector. It is open to manufacturers, consultants, security guarding companies, installers and managers.

In April 2009, when Reliance won a government-backed contract to deliver the UK’s first fully managed solution to protect NHS lone workers, it needed to quickly develop an innovative solution to create and integrate all back office functions and a customer service desk within its Remote Monitoring Centre (RMC). Combining customer relationship management (CRM) and workflow management, the solution has been so well-received that it will be extended as a best-practice model to enhance customer care to existing Reliance customers and enable the development of new services.

Violence and aggression towards staff costs the NHS at least £69 million a year, which is a particular problem for the 250,000 NHS workers that routinely work alone. Reliance Protect gives lone workers such as community nurses, health visitors and paramedics, potentially exposed to intimidation or violence the ability to discreetly activate an alert. In the event of an incident, the user opens a live channel to the Reliance Remote Monitoring Centre, where operators are intensively trained to interpret events 24/7. By capturing evidence they provide swift escalation, including police involvement where required. The solution comprises a security device, SIM card, network connection, end-user training, 24/7 manned monitoring, customer service desk and full support.

The NHS has made 30,000 devices available to Primary Care Trusts, who have the option to expand the service and invest in additional devices.

Susan Frith, Deputy Head of Security Management, NHS Security Management said, “We are pleased with the proactive, thorough and professional approach that Reliance has taken. Rather than settle for a standard CRM solution, Reliance is delivering a comprehensive, feature-rich IT solution tailored to our needs. Thanks to this innovative approach, NHS Trusts will benefit from first-class customer care and timely access to valuable management information to help them better manage risk.”

Paul Holdstock , Director of Monitoring Services was there to collect the award and said,” The implementation of TOPDesk strengthens our commitment to continue to be one of the leading monitoring and surveillance centre in Europe. We will continue to invest in sophisticated IT solutions to improve our customers’ experience and reduce cost while bringing more technologies on-line as they become available.
