LOW COST VIDEOPHONE PUTS SECURITY OPERATORS IN THE PICTURE

Security installers and providers are being put in the picture following the launch of the UK’s lowest priced touch-screen videophone.

Specialist internet telephony manufacturer Yealink has introduced the new feature-rich VP2009 which, with a recommended price tag of £283.50 (ex VAT), retails at less than half the price of a comparable leading brand.

“Videophones can clearly play an important role within a security package but take up has so far been prohibited by the high capital cost demanded.” commented Yealink UK’s Head of Distribution Channels, Charles Williams. “The VP2009 breaks down that barrier without compromising on features or build quality. It makes videophone security not just a desirable option, but an affordable one.”

The Yealink model is impressively specified, featuring a generous seven inch digital LCD colour display which hosts a highly user-friendly interface. It supports MPEG4 advanced video coding to give excellent picture quality via both a local media player or remotely streamed TV and video on demand.

Other functions include a built-in rotatable CMOS camera, digital photo-frame, adaptive bandwidth, full duplex audio, extensive voice features and the ability to screen video advertisements when talking and on or offline.

The VP900 is the latest addition to Yealink’s extensive range of internet telephony handsets all of which offer, as standard, high definition voice quality, handy Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality (not on VP2009), a headset port, programmable keys, voicemail, remote and local phonebook and intercom.
