Genie CCTV launch Genieus Hybrid Video Management Console

Genie CCTV has launched the Genieus hybrid video management console. This is a digital CCTV/IP system that can be used for security, surveillance and monitoring applications, with extensive Internet and web integration. Genieus Console uses a wide range of camera devices, including USB webcams, capture cards (for connection to conventional analogue CCTV cameras) and network/IP video servers and cameras. Because of its modular design, installers are not limited to one type of device for the whole system.

Motion detection is performed without the need for PIR triggers and external motion detectors. Once motion is detected, recording begins, according to the manufacturer. Genieus can be programmed to record before and after the motion event to ensure all footage is captured. Digital image storage means access to stored images is instant, allowing footage to be played back while still recording. Also included is a loop play feature to continuously loop the most recent activity. Archiving automatically enables retention of footage, image integrity checking ensures footage isn’t tampered with, and feed management allows precise control over the storage of images per camera feed.

Other features include a dedicated Apple iPhone browser, X10 home automation support and actions on I/O triggers. The console can switch mains-powered devices on events, when a preset sensor value is reached, or when a virtual tripwire has been crossed. Users can then be alerted via SMS or email and can log in and view live from an iPhone, PDA, mobile phone or any PC.
