Introducing Access Control Solutions from Samsung

Samsung has launched a comprehensive range of RFID and biometric technology based access control systems which collectively provide a cost effective solution for any access control application from single door to large building or multi-site projects.

The range is broken down into standalone controllers, single & four door controllers, readers and software, with versions suitable for standalone or full TCP/IP or RS-485 operation.

Standalone Controllers

With a choice of built-in reader technologies that encompass facial recognition, fingerprint recognition, proximity and smart card & PIN, as well as time and attendance options, Samsung’s range of standalone controllers offer the ideal solution for single door security with the option to network together over multiple doors. Biometric or Card-Based Access Control?

Access control today is based on one or more ID technologies and tends to be either biometric or card-based. Card-based systems rely on RF, contact chip, magnetic stripe or other ID technology. Biometric systems use fingerprint, palm vein, iris or even voice recognition. The most secure systems use multiple levels of verification, such as fingerprint, card and PIN. So which is right for you?

Making your choice
Biometric access control is very secure and there are many user-friendly variations that make them non-intrusive. Card-based systems have the advantage that the cards also provide visual identification. Making the right choice involves considering a number of factors that you should discuss with your provider.

ID specialist and card manufacturer Databac is ideally placed to help you consider your options. With 40 years of experience in ID solutions, Databac can evaluate the needs of your premises to help you select the kind of system that suits your business.

ACTpro 4000 two door controller enhances ACTpro access control offering

The ACTpro 4000 two door controller from Access Control Technology (ACT) Ltd is the latest product to be added to the hugely popular ACTpro range of access control solutions. Access Control is a core component

Security Systems Technology (SST), the Middlesex-based installer, provides a range of complementary surveillance and security services of which Access Control is a core component.

Multi Spectral Imaging from iEvo

SST offers fingerprint-based access control through use of products from Newcastle-based manufacturer iEvo . These units use MSI (multi spectral imaging) and integrate seamlessly into third-party card and fob systems by using the original manufacturers’ controllers (such as Paxton Access) via Wiegand inputs.

iEvo is allowing SST to implement a reliable biometric product at new and legacy installations, so helping end-users overcome the challenges of harsh environments and problem fingerprints. The iEvo readers are vandal-resistant, networkable, and can be flush or surface-mounted. Custom colours according to the RAL coding system are available to optimise aesthetics. Designed to be used both internally and externally, the units are IP65-rated.

Chetan Vasudev, Sales Director at SST, said: “Access control solutions are continuously evolving and biometric readers are no exception. Use of fingerprint technology vastly improves door entry security and nullifies the risk of cards being passed to third parties.”
