NEW IMPRO MULTI DISCIPLINE READER COMBINES STYLE AND FLEXIBILITY

BPT Security Systems (UK) Ltd. is pleased to announce the latest hardware addition to its Impro access control systems in the form of the flexible, stylish Impro Multi Discipline Reader (MDR).

The Impro MDR reads dual frequencies - 125KHz and 13.56MHz – ensuring it can be used with an exceptionally wide range of third party tags and cards, such as HID 125kHz plus read/write and iClass, Philips Mifare and Desfire and Sony Felica as well as Impro proprietary tags and cards. Such a design means existing access control systems can be easily upgraded to an Impro system without having to replace the existing cards / tags – a great selling point for end users. This could also prove useful if an end-user is using Mifare cards for cashless vending as the card can now double up easily for access control.

The Reader itself has been designed with a modern, sleek appearance and a very small profile which will make it a welcome addition to any style conscious building. It comes with an anti tamper switch, is fully potted for outdoor use and has a mark resistant 304 Stainless Steel cover for vandal resistance.

Security has been a major consideration in the design of the new Impro MDR. The MDR now offers an industry first with full AES 128bit encryption between the Reader and the Door Controller. This ensures that the integrity of the system cannot be compromised by tampering with the Wiegand communications bus.

Installation of the Impro MDR is remarkably simple and can be installed up to 150 metres from the Door Controller making siting very flexible.

Upgrades to the Reader are also straightforward and can be carried out in the field without losing functionality thanks to the Impro MDR’s zero downtime upgrade feature, which end users will find particularly reassuring.

The Impro MDR can be used with the new standalone IXP20 (both of which are available from February 2010), the very popular mid range IXP220 and our enterprise IXP400i systems, all of which are distributed in the UK by BPT Security Systems.
