AEG is part of award-winning sustainable housing concept
Lafarge UK’s innovative solution to sustainable housing – ‘Cool Concrete’ – was announced as the winner of the UK Green Building Council’s prestigious Ecobuild Sustainable Stand Award. Energy-efficient AEG appliances featured in the Lafarge ‘Cool Concrete’ house at the Ecobuild exhibition.
The award, sponsored by Willmott Dixon, is presented to an Ecobuild exhibitor whose stand demonstrates outstanding sustainability credentials across a number of criteria. These include resource efficiency, the use of responsibly sourced products, carbon footprint minimisation and the extent to which the stand’s components can be recycled after the show. Health and safety was also a key consideration for judges when assessing the materials used and how the stand had been constructed.
The energy-efficient AEG appliances that featured in the Cool Concrete house kitchen included the A-20% energy rated BP7304151M MaxiKlasse Pyrolux oven and the A+++-10% L87680FL ProTex washing machine. The A++ rated S53600CSS0 ProFresh fridge freezer also featured in the Cool Concrete kitchen as it uses 40% less energy than an A rated model as well as the AEG HK65400XB MaxiSense induction hob.
This is not the first eco-housing project in which AEG appliances have been chosen for their energy-efficient credentials. In November 2011, AEG appliances were installed in VELUX’s carbon-neutral homes project which is currently on-going and in May 2011 AEG was selected for the Eco Village Demonstration House kitchen in Bicester.
