Sinks fit for a Prince

Shaws of Darwen have supplied their traditional Original and Classic fireclay sinks to The Prince’s Foundation’s Natural House being built at the Building Research Establishment in Watford, near London. The Natural House is a low carbon home designed by The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment using natural materials in a traditional design that reflects the character of its local area.

The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment exists to improve the quality of people’s lives by teaching and practicing timeless and ecological ways of planning, designing and building in a sustainable way.

The same styles of individually, hand-made fireclay sinks will also be installed in the re-creation of the house at the major consumer show in London, the Ideal Home Exhibition, and will be seen by thousands of visitors.

Every Shaws sink is handcrafted in England by craftsmen, using only the best raw materials. Shaws sinks form the centrepiece of the kitchens of some of the finest houses in the world.

We are in the unique position of knowing that there is a proud homeowner for every sink we make. We have longstanding relationships with our distribution partners around the world, who ensure that the customer service we offer matches the ultra-high quality of the product. Every sink is individual and signed off by the craftsman who made it, before being safely boxed and delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

English ceramics rightly have a fantastic reputation and it’s clear to us that there is a demand for quality products which is increasing both in the UK and across the world. Our export business continues to develop year on year, due to the genuine excellence of product and customer service that we offer.

“There are no short cuts in our manufacturing process” comments David Dare, CEO, “it takes time to make something so individual and distinctive that meets today’s quality expectations”. The Company was awarded, without fault, the ISO9001 Quality Standard Certification for all aspects of business and manufacturing systems reflecting all products produced. We have set ourselves apart by offering unique products to the marketplace that are genuinely hand-made in England to very exacting standards”.

From our Original, Classic, Inset and Undermount Collections, there will be a sink for everyone, available in both white and pergamon finish, to co-ordinate with other kitchen fixtures and furnishings. We are also proud to offer a branded tap range that complements the Shaws product both in terms of image and quality.

Shaws have been manufacturing in England since 1897, and are delighted to be chosen by The Prince’s Foundation for this exciting environmental project.
