Fundraising reaches dizzy heights

Walking boots are at the ready for a group of employees from Moores Furniture Group, as they prepare to take to the hills of the 3 Peaks Challenge on Saturday 11 July.

After lots of practice walks along the way to get them ready for the climb the team have nursed sore feet and aching muscles but are now fighting fit for the challenge. The team which has employees from different departments across the company including Design Services, Estimating and Moores Night Shift along with product designers for the Four Seasons and Shades brands Liam Walker and Greg Vickers are planning to raise funds for Saint Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate.

The team are hoping to raise £2,000 for Saint Michaels Hospice, which provides palliative care to terminally ill patients and their families within the Harrogate and Wetherby area. Give them your support by donating at: www.justgiving.com/moores3peakchallenge Donations can also be accepted after the event has taken place.

“We were inspired to take up the 3 Peaks Challenge after watching the Comic Relief Mount Kilimanjaro expedition earlier in the year,” explains team member Richard Burrell. “While we loved the idea of a trip to Africa , organising the time off work for so many staff would have been tricky, so we decided to walk the Yorkshire 3 Peaks instead.

“This will be a real challenge for us as until recently the furthest most of us walk regularly is to the staff canteen and back! But we’ve been practicing long and hard and now can’t wait to get the Challenge underway. It’s also been a great team building exercise and everyone at Moores has been brilliantly supportive.”

The challenge is to climb the 3 Yorkshire Peaks – Penyghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – a circular route of 25 miles starting at Horton in Ribbblesdale, up to the top of Penyghent at 694m, then to Whernside – the highest point in North Yorskhire at 736m – before the final challenge to the top of Ingleborough at 723m all in under 12 hours.
