Red Dot Design Award for induction oven

Belling’s BI60i Belling Eco Induction Oven has been awarded a prestigious Red Dot Design award.

Awarded by the Design Centre of North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany , the Red Dot awards rank alongside the iF Design Awards and the IDEA Design Awards as one of the most coveted international honours in product design. Each year an international judging panel reviews and evaluates the submitted products according to criteria such as degree of innovation, design, quality of build and functionality.

This year, some 4,252 products presented by 1,636 companies from 57 countries competed in the awards.

The Belling BI60i is a unique built-in appliance that uses induction technology in the main oven cavity.   It is the first ever induction oven to be introduced and uses an impressive 50 per cent less energy than an A rated oven.

The patent pending 6-in-1 oven caught the attention of the judges because it uses an integrated induction plate inside the oven cavity and is capable of slow cooking, roasting, grilling, steaming, fan cooking and baking casseroles. The BI60i comes with a unique cast iron pot as well as a steaming and roasting trivet for induction cooking using the slow cooking, casseroles, steaming and roasting modes.

Steve Dickson, commercial manager at Belling said: “It’s a great honour to be awarded a Red Dot Design award.  Our product was chosen above the innovations of some of the world’s biggest brands, which is a fantastic accolade.

This is the first time that induction technology has been used inside the oven cavity and for consumers keen to reduce their energy consumption, so it is a ground-breaking development and it is great to have that recognised.
