Blum get Grand Designs visitors involved
Once again the Blum stand at Grand Designs was the focal point for visitors to get a feel for the future of kitchen design. On a dual stand Blum displayed interior fittings at the cutting edge of their motto: “Perfecting Motion”. Central to this was SERVO-DRIVE – Blum’s peerless electro-mechanical system for opening drawers and pull-outs in response to only slight pressure from the user. For the first time SERVO-DRIVE was also fitted to Blum’s unique SPACE CORNER solution for awkward corner units. Another “first” at Grand Designs was the application of SERVO-DRIVE to Blum’s AVENTOS overhead lift system for wall cabinets. In this configuration SERVO-DRIVE was shown with one touch closing as well, which was received with great excitement from the visitors to the stand. Of course Perfecting Motion was not a concept in isolation and neither was SERVO-DRIVE the only element involved. All Blum’s products and systems are developed around intelligent use of space for maximum storage, optimum accessibility to interiors and ergonomic kitchen planning. BLUMOTION soft close system is available on all the full extension TANDEM runner systems that serve their drawers and pull-outs. BLUMOTION is also integral to AVENTOS and was present on all door hinges. Internal dividing and organisational systems were a major focal point for visitors as were special space saving drawers like the under sink drawer. Design and style was also central to Blum’s display – in particular the intriguing Intivo concept where the side panels of drawers (and the front panels in the case of internal pull-outs) can be individualised by manufacturers in terms of colour, materials, logos etc. The other section of the Blum stand was where all of the above come together under the banner of DYNAMIC SPACE ® – Blum’s advanced system of kitchen planning where areas of storage are arranged ogically according to five zones of activity to make kitchen usage easy and pleasurable and to enhance natural ergonomics and workflows. On this part of the stand, units were mounted on castors so that they could be moved around and re-configured according to the individual plans that over 60 visitors brought onto the stand, many of them returning for a second time when they realised that this facility was available. Without exception they walked away with new ideas about how they intended to plan their forthcoming kitchens. A common comment was “This is the best stand at the exhibition”. Highly motivated and encouraged, Blum team members will now be contacting individual visitors to the stand, to progress the work that they achieved at Grand Designs.
