German award for Closed Induction Hob

Premiere: for the first time Neff wins the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in Gold. This “Prize of Prizes” is the country‘s highest distinction in the field of design, because: no other design award sets such strict criteria on entries. Thus, a company can only enter the competition for the Design Award if its product has already been awarded a national or international design prize. Another precondition for entry is that companies must have been nominated by the Ministries and Senators of the Federal States or by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The closed induction hob TT 4490 N by Neff fully convinced the Jury at the German Design Council. Gerhard Nuessler, former Head of Design at Neff explains: “We are especially excited about this honour. This highest German design prize shows that modern functionality and outstanding design can very well go together. This is what the brand Neff stands for.”

Read here the justification of the German Design Council for giving the Gold-Award: “The "form follows function" revival: design must first of all serve the user. This minimalist exterior conceals a masterful technical maximum. The 90-cm-wide, finely bevelled glass ceramic plate with subtle graphics indicating cooking zones is precisely positioned on an extremely flat stainless-steel decorative frame. It not only looks good, but is also especially easy to maintain. Remarkably ergonomic: the removable TwistPad, a magnetic control knob slightly rounded at the base. A slight tilt activates the selected cooking zone and a tiny twist immediately adjusts it to the exact setting desired. Intuitive - and with an intelligent child safety lock: removing the TwistPad instantly shuts off all cooking zones.”
