Roca presents “We Are Water”

The main goal of the We Are Water Foundation will be the support of a wide range of projects to counter the negative effects of the lack of adequate water resources around the world.

Filmmaker Isabel Coixet together with actors Sir Ben Kingsley and Tim Robbins collaborate in the first activity of We Are Water with a documentary film on the drastic shrinkage of the Aral Sea.

Roca, the leading global bathroom brand, has today launched the We Are Water Foundation at The Covent Garden Hotel, London. This important launch has taken place in twenty cities around the world, including Barcelona (Spain), Mumbai (India), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Paris (France), Shanghai (China), Moscow (Russia), and Beirut (Lebanon).

The We Are Water Foundation has been set up with the objective of mitigating the negative effects associated with the lack of adequate water resources, raising overall awareness and motivating people to donate funds to be used in the implementation of cooperation projects.

The event saw the premiere of “Aral, the Lost Sea”, a documentary by international filmmaker Isabel Coixet, which was presented at the San Sebastian International Film Festival on September 21st. The documentary is the first activity sponsored by the We Are Water Foundation and is representative of the type of collaboration that the foundation will be working towards with both artists, such as Isobel Coixet, and NGOs in the future.

“Now is the time to link our leadership to environmental issues, an area in which we have already been involved for more than 50 years” said Alan Dodds, Managing Director of Roca UK. “We Are Water is part of our commitment to sustainability and to the communities most affected by the lack of water and its consequences. We aim to become a key source of information in the management of environmental issues and sustainable development, especially in everything related to water.”

Additional information about We Are Water projects, goals, and activities undertaken by “Ambassadors” and “Friends” of the Foundation is available at www.wearewater.org
