Good News! JJO reports sales improvement

One of the leading British kitchen, bathroom and bedroom furniture manufacturers, JJO, has announced its response to what it perceives as the first tentative signs that the industry may be on the cusp of witnessing a modest and hopefully sustainable uplift in sales. An extra twenty five staff are being recruited and additional shifts are being scheduled across the key areas of production, including a triple shift pattern in the panel and door production department.

The company is also taking delivery of an additional pair of trailers, taking its fleet to twenty seven vehicles and sixteen trailers. Sales & Marketing Director Richard Proctor says “I am old enough and wise enough not to go so far as to claim that these moves constitute irrefutable evidence that ‘the green shoots of economic recovery’ have finally sprouted, but we have been monitoring our order intake very attentively and seen a clear upwards trend in sales. This, coupled with a stream of more upbeat economic data and healthier reports from estate agents, has given the board the confidence to invest in twenty five extra staff and order two more delivery trailers to ensure that we continue to fulfil all orders promptly”.

In 2008 JJO added bathroom furniture to its ‘eco’ range. This initiative not only enjoyed a good take-up by many of the company’s existing kitchen and bedroom accounts but also saw the company enter vertical bathroom studios, some of whom are now diversifying into kitchens. As a result of the contribution to turnover that the bathroom range has made, JJO’s bathroom furniture factory in Bacup, Lancashire is to enjoy a substantial cash investment in order to accelerate the introduction of additional ranges and further refine the existing manufacturing facilities.

“The industry is not out of the woods yet, but it is incumbent of all of us in it to proclaim good news and, with facts to qualify our claims, ‘talk up’ our individual and our industry’s successes. The past year has seen few cheerful headlines in the trade and I am pleased that JJO is able to feed some positive current into the industry’s grid and I hope I will be reading similar vibes from others over the coming months” said Mr Proctor.
