Relationship building takes to two wheels for Greg

Proving that teamwork doesn’t end at supplying quality furniture for clients, a Product Manager from Moores Furniture Group joined his colleagues from Miller Homes Yorkshire to tackle the elements during a charity bike ride recently.

Known as something of a keen cyclist among his work colleagues and clients, when Moores Product Manager Greg Smith learnt that David Pearson, the Commercial Manager for Miller Homes Yorkshire was looking for people to join a team to take part in the Pedal for Pounds sponsored bike ride in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research he was only too happy to oblige.

The event took place last month in gruelling weather conditions and over tough terrain covering a total of 48 miles around Doncaster, with the aim of raising £50,000 to fund research into the causes and cures of cancer.

“When David asked me to join the team taking part in the event I was happy to accept the offer, thinking of it as contributing to a worthwhile charity as well as a good way to improve and build a customer relationship.

“I am used to riding all year around, but I have to say that the weather conditions on the day were truly atrocious. We all did our bit and battled on to successfully complete the ride, however the real credit should go to those, who unlike me, don't spend half their lives on a bike but dragged themselves out of bed on a Sunday morning, braved the weather and no doubt in incurred severe saddle soreness as a memento."

Those colleagues preferring to stay on two feet rather than two wheels showed their support for Greg and the team, with sponsorship money still pouring in and Greg’s personal total currently standing at just under £300.
