Industry calls on Government to promote energy certification
The Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) must spend more money on promoting the legislation supporting energy certification if the scheme is to be a success, warned industry representatives at a recent event.

Leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy Buro Happold is helping the University of Sheffield to achieve a carbon neutral building at the new Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). The erection of two large wind turbines in April makes this the first carbon neutral, major manufacturing facility in the UK.

One year after the Cutty Sark fire, installation of Buro Happold’s support structure is weeks away
On the anniversary of the blaze that engulfed the last surviving tea clipper, the project’s engineer is gearing up for lifting the ship  
On 21st May 2007 and with the £25 million Cutty Sark conservation project only a quarter complete fire ripped through the hull of the world famous tea clipper. It was feared the vessel’s structure had suffered substantial damage, but Buro Happold’s survey revealed that only local buckling and distortion had occurred – and there was no change in the properties or overall shape of the iron frame.
